Welcome Community Members!

Welcome to Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. With over 50,000 students in over 114 schools, we believe that every one of our students has the ability to reach his or her full potential. Whether you’re new to Hamilton or a member of our community, you’ll find useful information on everything from how to enroll your child in school, student records to careers with our Board included in this section. Our Quick Guide to HWDSB also provides an easy resource full of important information on HWDSB.

For many parents, child care is an important factor in choosing a school. High quality accessible child care and early learning programs are offered in over 40 schools throughout HWDSB by a number of community partners. All programs are licensed by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

It takes a village to raise a child and at HWDSB, we know that we can’t do it alone. That’s why the office of Partnership and Community Engagement serves as a link between the community and schools to create conditions so that all students can achieve their full potential.

We offer many opportunities to get involved in the education system. Our anti-poverty initiative, for instance, is one way to take part and ensure students from all areas of Hamilton are given the same opportunities to succeed. Focus on Youth is another program that is helping low-income families access quality learning and recreation activities during the summer months.

Our schools are an integral part of the community and facilities are often available for non-for-profit community groups through community use of schools/rentals. Not-for-profit groups interested in promoting their services can participate in our flyer distribution process.
